‘Flash’ Ratings Pick Up The Pace, ‘New Girl’ Even With Megan Fox, ‘Grinder’ Rises

A lot of Americans visited New Hampshire via the small screen last night as results for the Presidential primary in the Granite State delivered solid wins for Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. Over on the CW, the trip was to Earth 2 on The Flash (1.6/5) and it was a good visit indeed.

Up 14% among adults 18-49 over its February 2 show, the Scarlett Speedster series hit a Season 2 high in early numbers and finished its time slot race in second place behind the powerhouse of NCIS (2.4/8), which was even with its last original. Also second in the slot in total viewers with 3.97 million watching, Tuesday’s Flash results are in fact the best the WBTV produced show has done in the key demo since the first crossover with The Arrow back on December 2, 2014. Among the 18-34 demo, last night’s 1.5/6 rating was the best The Flash has done since its October 7, 2014 debut.

With iZombie (0.6/2) rising a tenth, the CW had a 1.1/3 rating in the key demo. Thought there were some ACC basketball preemptions in smaller markets, that still tops both Fox (1.0/3) and ABC (0.8/3)

Part of the rest of Tuesday’s 8 PM slot saw New Girl (1.4/5), which had Megan Fox joining for a multi-episode run while Zooey Deschanel was pregnant, and Hollywood Game Night (1.1/4) even with last week. Starting ABC’s primetime, Fresh Off The Boat (1.2/4) was down 14% from its midseason return of last Tuesday. Lead-out The Muppets (0.9/3) and Marvel’s Agent Carter (0.8/3) were even with last week’s tepid results while What Would You Do? (0.6/2) dipped a tenth. Not that Peggy Carter didn’t have a good night on other platforms. Live + 3 and Live + 7 data for MAC hit new delayed viewing highs with a 63% rise in the demo in L+3 for last week’s show and a 78% jump for the Season 2 debut in L+7.

In Live + Same Day ratings, NBC’s Chicago Med (1.6/5) and Chicago Fire (1.8/6) were also even with their February 2 shows. Fox comedies Grandfathered (0.9/3), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (1.0/3) and The Grinder (0.8/2) were down 10%, even and up 33% from last week respectively.

With NCIS the top rated and, with 16.84 million tuning in, the most watched show of the night, CBS won demo and viewership victories with a 1.9/6 rating and 11.97 million viewers. The net’s NCIS: New Orleans (1.9/6) and Limitless (1.3/4) were up 6% and 8% in the demo from their last originals of January 19.
