Final 'Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension' Trailer Up to Some New Tricks

Nothing you’ve seen… nothing you’ve experienced… can you prepare you… for the final chapter,” promises the new trailer for Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension that debuted on Machinima. First off, that sounds exciting. Secondly, how did the first five Paranormal Activity movies not adequately prepare us for the final chapter? Because some of those were pretty damn scary.

Ghost Dimension, which, as you can also see above, promises to be the last installment in the hit horror franchise (we’ll believe when we never see it), does bring some new twists to formula: the new family of victims discover an old video recorder that captures “spirit photography.” And whether you see it as a pro or con, this sequel is the first in the series to use more obvious CGI to show us the fluid bursts of those menacing ghosts, as opposed to PA movies of the past, where it was mostly household items creepily moving by themselves.

Of course, some things never change, and this movie returns Katie, Kristi, and Toby, three old friends from PA movies past who are clearly not resting in peace. It goes without saying, but this new family is screwed.

Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension opens Oct. 23.
