Fifty States of Great: Can You Name Every Movie in Our Great American Supercut?
In honor of Independence Day (the holiday, not the alien invasion), we decided to take a cinematic grand tour through the 50 states in the U.S. of A. without ever leaving our desk chairs. Our crack team of researchers dove deep into the streaming vault and waded through movies as varied as Forrest Gump to North by Northwest to There’s Something About Mary, to compile this supercut of characters saying the name of every single state in the Union.
Some of the references are more obvious: No points for guessing which state Nicolas Cage says in Raising Arizona. And some of them are more creative: It totally counts when Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Utah introduces himself in Point Break. In the end, we got them all in there, from sea to shining sea and in alphabetical order from Alabama to Wyoming — which, for the record, is definitely not a country, no matter what Sal in Dog Day Afternoon thinks.
