‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel Eyes ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Star Callum Turner
“Assassins Creed’s” Callum Turner is in talks to take on the role of Newt Scamander’s brother in Warner Bros. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” sequel, TheWrap has learned.
Turner will play the sibling of Eddie Redmayne, who returns to the franchise as Scamander. Jude Law has been cast as Young Dumbledore, while Johnny Depp reprises his role as Grindelwald.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” a spin-off in J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” universe, has grossed $814 million worldwide since its Nov. 18 release. The sequel — the second in a planned five-movie series — is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 16, 2018. Rowling, who wrote the screenplay for “Fantastic Beasts,” will also write the script for the the second installment.

Principal photography is set to begin this summer on the film directed by David Yates, who previously helmed the final four “Harry Potter” movies as well as the first “Fantastic Beasts.” David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram will produce, while Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen are serving as executive producers.
Turner most recently played Nathan in Fox’s “Assassin’s Creed,” which went on to gross $421 million worldwide. He is represented by WME and Curtis Brown Group.
