Watch a History of the Movie Dinosaur, from 'King Kong' to 'Jurassic Park'

When Jurassic World opens this weekend, moviegoers will get their first look at the franchise’s deadly dinos in nearly 15 years. But the original Jurassic Park was hardly the first movie to feature prehistoric beasts: From 1915′s Gertie the Dinosaur to mid-century films like 1953′s The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms to recent flicks like 2009′s Land of the Lost, big-screen dinos have evolved from charmingly low-budget critters to a big-budget special-effects showcases. In this new video from The Yahoo Movie Show — which you can watch above — you’ll get a look at 100 years’ worth of movie-dwelling dinos, and see how the creatures’ looks (and attitudes) have evolved, whether it’s a bemused Brontosaurus a towering T. Rex. Watch the video above, and don’t forget to hold on to your butts.
