'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Final Trailer: An Old Foe Gets a New Look

Everything is getting a revamp in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” and that includes the superhero’s best friend and oldest enemy — who, in Spidey’s case, happen to be the same person.

In the new exclusive trailer, we get a better look at the two faces of Peter Parker’s old pal Harry Osborn, played by Dane DeHaan (who got some experience being a supervillain in 2012’s “Chronicle”). The two old chums reunite after a decade apart, and Harry lets Peter in on a secret: Oscorp, the massive corporation run by Harry’s father, Norman Osborn, has been keeping Peter under surveillance.

Peter digs into the mysteries of Oscorp and how it’s tied to his family history, including why his father, who worked for the company, had a secret underground lab. He charts all the information he gathers on his bedroom wall, with all roads leading back to the company. At the same time, Harry is uncovering his own family secrets, including Oscorp employee-turned-bad guy Electro (played by Jamie Foxx), who tells him, “Let’s go catch a spider.”

In the previous “Spider-Man” franchise, Harry Osborn was played by James Franco, and his father Norman (Willem Dafoe) was the one who became the Goblin. Later, Harry took on the mantle of the Goblin to get back at Peter for his father’s death, like the character did in the comics. “Amazing Spider-Man 2” shifts it around, with Norman Osborn (played this time by Oscar-winner Chris Cooper) gravely ill and Harry becoming Spidey’s foe. He’s got the green-tinged armor and rocket-powered glider you might expect, but this Goblin doesn’t wear a mask; instead he’s got spiky blond hair and a particularly evil look on his face.

This new trailer also provides some fresh looks at the other adversaries the web-slinger faces in the new movie. You get a better sense of the incredible destructive power of Electro, with him blasting a police car at Spidey and decimating Times Square. And you get the first look at the charge of the Rhino (Paul Giamatti), who trades in the horned costume of the comics for a massive and heavily armed robotic suit.

With three bad guys assailing New York City, that’s a lot of trouble for one arachnid to handle. We’ll see how he does it when “The Amazing Spider-Man 2" hits theaters on May 2.
