Evan Peters Expands on 'X-Men' Reveal That Magneto Is Quicksilver's Dad

It was a hardly a secret that Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is the father to fast-and-furious mutant Quicksilver (Evan Peters). The parentage has been long established in the Marvel Comics source material, was teased in a couple carefully nested Easter eggs in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, and director Bryan Singer confirmed as much to Yahoo Movies when promoting the film’s special Blu-ray cut last July.

And in the recently released final trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, Quicksilver comes right out with it: “Magneto, he’s my father,” he tells Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique, whose shock indicates she might have been the last person on Earth to know.

But how deep will Apocalypse delve into their family ties? Was it an X-tramarital affair, for example? (Sorry.) “It’s a big motivation for Quicksilver to get out of his mom’s basement,” Peters told us (watch above) last week at an early Los Angeles press day for Apocalypse. “He’s trying to find his father and help him out.”

Peters wouldn’t say too much about how their newly divulged relationship will play out in the screen, but he did hint at some daddy drama. “It’s tough, man, it’s a hard thing to meet with an estranged father,” he said. “It’s a very difficult thing. It’s a very real thing. So it was interesting to play that side of Quicksilver.”
