LONDON – Canadian holiday animation special The Magic Hockey Skates will glide across TV screens in Latin America, Europe and Canada after Entertainment One Family inked a slew of broadcast sales deals.
Based on the Allan Morgan children’s book of the same name, The Magic Hockey Skates is a 2D animated primetime TV special. The story follows a young boy’s journey as he gains confidence and self-respect with help from a pair of magic ice skates.
eOne Family inked deals with Disney XD LatAm, Societe Radio Canada, Teletoon France, RTS Radio Television Suisse, NRK Norway, Chello Central Europe and RTE in Ireland for the show to air during the 2013 Christmas season.
The children’s special is produced by Canada's Amberwood Entertainment in association with CBC, with financial assistance from the Canada Media Fund.
"We’re delighted to have secured such a strong lineup of international broadcast partners for this feel-good holiday special," said eOne Family head of international sales Monica Candiani. "We hope that families will embrace this uplifting story when it airs on screens during the festive period, and we truly believe it has the potential to become a much-loved Christmas perennial."
