Endemol Shine Beyond USA went looking behind the camera for its newest crop of development partners.
The digital studio has signed a number of music-video directors and producers to development deals for a slate of unscripted and scripted projects. Beyond president Bonnie Pan noted, "The development slate exemplifies original new content from a range of talented directors, producers and creators focused on creating the stories they have always dreamed of."
Among its new partners are Young Hollywood host Oliver Trevena and music-video directors Dave Meyers and Kyle Newman. Beyond is also working with producer Alexander Delgado, documentarian Michael Parenteau and producers Lauren Selig and Peter Martin.
"It is an age of enlightenment in content creation as we continue to forge new storytelling ground across multiple platforms," said Pan. "The rules are being broken, and with no boundaries, creativity is soaring."
Trevena is working on several projects with Beyond, including an unscripted series about Alex da Kid, a dance series in partnership with Millennium Dance Complex and an unscripted talent competition called Triple Threat. In addition, he will star in Beyond's scripted series Porn Moms, which follows a young mother in need of cash who is asked to join a group of moms who ghostwrite porn.
Meyers, known for his work directing the music videos for Katy Perry's "Firework" and Kendrick Lamar's "Humble," is following up his previous work with Beyond on YouTube Red series The Keys of Christmas with a scripted music series and a virtual-reality project. Newman - who directed Taylor Swift's "Style" music video and worked with the pop star on her 1989 World Tour - will direct several projects for Beyond, including Porn Moms. Meanwhile, Delgado, who has worked with Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Fergie, is working on urban art series Blank Spaces, among other projects.
Director Parenteau is developing a docuseries for Beyond called Silence, which will explore what the world would be like without music.
Together, producers Selig (Hacksaw Ridge, Lone Survivor) and Martin are working on the virtual-reality series Capturing Everest for SI.com and Life VR. They are also developing additional VR projects for the studio.
