The fashion and skateboarding worlds mourn the loss of an icon.
Dylan Rieder passed away from complications due to leukemia on Wednesday, according to a statement from his manager. He was 28.
The Orange County, Calif., native from Westminster started skating at the age of 9, and went pro at the age of 18 for Alien Workshop. In the fashion world, Rieder embodied California-cool style - forgoing skate shoes for Prada loafers and loose-fit pants for tailored, high-waisted pants. His unique look and attitude towards professional skating made him an immediate stand-out in Southern California.

Rieder held sponsorships with Supreme, Alien Workshop, Quicksilver, HUF, F*cking Awesome, Osiris, Rasa Libra and more. After landing a Vogue editorial in 2013, he modeled for a DKNY campaign along with Cara Delevingne, A$AP Rocky and Jourdan Dunn in 2014. Supreme on Fairfax, a regular hang-out of Rieder's, switched out their regular wall of decks with ones of Rieder as a youth as an in-store memorial.
Transworld Skateboarding reported that in lieu of sending flowers, Rieder's family requested donations be made in Rieder's name to City of Hope in Duarte, Calif.
