The Fault and Its Star: Dwayne Johnson Is a High-Flying Hero in First 'San Andreas' Trailer

Even when the ground splits, The Rock remains solid.

The first “teaser” trailer for the upcoming disaster epic San Andreas has hit the internet, teasing both heroic acts of bravery from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and the sort of mass-destruction epic that recalls late 90’s blockbusters like Volcano, Twister, Dante’s Peak, and Deep Impact.

So yeah, it looks insane, and the creepy kids cover of The Mamas & The Papa’s “California Dreaming,” the latest in a line of eery versions of classic songs in trailers, only adds to the craziness.

The movie comes from director Brad Peyton, heretofore best known for the classics Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (which starred Johnson as well) and Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. As you can see, much of the Golden State (and its population) succumbs to the seismic activity along the famed San Andreas fault.

We’re betting that Johnson’s heroics will save more than a few lives,  and that he’s unbothered by the dire warnings of Paul Giamatti, who fills the role of nervous, cautious scientist.

San Andreas hits theaters and rocks your world on May 29th.
