Donald Trump Drums Ted Cruz Out Of Race, Praises Him As “One Hell Of A Competitor” with “Amazing Future”

“It’s been an unbelievable day and evening and year,” Donald Trump said after Ted Cruz surprised many and suspended his campaign after suffering a drubbing in the Indiana primary.

“I have never been through anything like this, but it’s been a beautiful thing to watch … and we’re going to make America great again,” Trump said, reverting to tagline.

Although Cruz did not utter Trump’s name in his concession speech, the real estate developer-turned reality TV star made a point of showering with praise the man he’d been calling Lyin’ Ted for months.

“I have competed all my life. I’m a competitive person … and I have to tell you, I have met some of the most incredible competitors I have ever competed against right here in the Republican Party. And, just so you understand: Ted Cruz. I don’t know if he likes me or not, but he is one hell of a competitor. He is a tough, smart guy, and he has got an amazing future. I want to congratulate Ted. I had some moments where it was not looking good and it’s not a great feeling. So I understand how Ted feels, and Heidi and their whole beautiful family, ” said Trump, who’d kicked off the day citing a National Enquirer report to Fox News Channel that alleges Cruz’s father had been with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before Oswald murdered President Kennedy, and suggests the elder Cruz might have been involved in some way.

Trump also said today that “over the last week I have watched Lyin’ Ted become more and more unhinged as he is unable to react under the pressure and stress of losing, in all cases by landslides, the last six primary elections.”

Trump prattled on happily tonight that it looks as if he’ll pick up all of Indiana’s 57 GOP delegates. Trump praised voters for being “smart,” “getting it” and ignoring the flood of negative ads “most of which are absolutely false and disgusting and I say, ‘How can anybody endure this?'”

Moving on to the next candidate in his path, Trump said: “We’re going after Hillary Clinton. She will not be a great president; she will be a poor president. She doesn’t understand trade.”

Also this: “This has been an amazing evening. I didn’t expect this and what Ted did is a very brave thing to do and a great thing to do because we want to be bring unity to the Republican Party. It’s so much easier if we have it.”

And this: “Our theme is very simple. Make America Great Again. We will make America great again. We will start winning again. You will be so proud of this country, very, very soon.”

As Trump walked up to the microphone to deliver his victory speech, cable news networks called the Dem race in Indiana for Bernie Sanders.
