Don Lemon: It’s ‘Vital’ That CNN Covers Oscars Amid #OscarsSoWhite

Expect CNN’s Don Lemon and Michaela Pereira to dive into the movie industry’s diversity problem when they co-host “Hollywood’s Biggest Night,” the network’s Oscars red carpet coverage.

“Yes, the Oscar’s are a happy celebration, but there’s also some important news to discuss about diversity. That’s why it’s vital that CNN be there, front and center,” Lemon told TheWrap.

Following Sunday’s Oscars broadcast on ABC, Isla Sesay and Lemon will anchor the wrap-up show. “And the Winner Is…,” while Stephanie Elam will be live from the Governor’s Ball providing coverage on post-Oscar celebrations. Both programs will also be simulcast on CNN International.

CNN will also cover the awards extensively online, exploring issues of diversity while also focusing on the front-runners, fashion, past hosts and winners. Senior producer for entertainment Lisa France will be live-blogging throughout the night.
