Domhnall Gleeson Joins ‘Peter Rabbit’ Movie as Mr. McGregor

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Domhnall Gleeson is joining the voice cast of Sony’s live-action/animated hybrid “Peter Rabbit.”

The Irish actor will voice Mr. McGregor, the farmer in the classic story by Beatrix Potter. He joins James Corden as the voice of Peter, Rose Byrne in the female lead as Bea, fellow “Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley, and “The Night Manager’s” Elizabeth Debicki.

The film will be directed by Will Gluck from a screenplay by Rob Lieber with revisions by Gluck. The adaptation will be made at Animal Logic, the Sydney-based animation and visual effects production studio behind the blockbuster “The Lego Movie.”

Gluck and Zareh Nalbandian are both attached to produce the feature, with Doug Belgrad serving as executive producer. Jodi Hildebrand of Olive Bridge and Jason Lust will also serve as executive producers.

“Peter Rabbit” will hit theaters worldwide in April of 2018.

Gleeson starred in “Ex Machina,” “The Revenant,” and “Brooklyn.” He’s also playing the lead in Simon Curtis’ untitled A.A. Milne drama and will return in “Star Wars: Episode VIII.”

Gleeson is repped by Paradigm. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
