Ralph Sarchie is a decorated veteran of the New York Police Department in the South Bronx’s 46th Precinct who has made over 300 arrests in his 16-years on the force. But what’s really scary is his side job. Sarchie been on the scene of 20 real-life exorcisms.

Sarchie put his experiences in a book, “Beware the Night,” which will hit the big screen next summer as a film entitled “Deliver Us From Evil.” In it, Eric Bana plays Sarchie, who joins up with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez) to take on a rash of demonic possessions that threaten New York.

The film is co-written and directed by Scott Derrickson, who has some experience with demons of his own having made the 2005 surprise hit “The Exorcisim of Emily Rose.” He most recently made another successful scarefest with 2012’s “Sinister.”

Deliver Us From Evil" opens on July 2, 2014.
