'Deadpool' Sets New Digital HD Sales Records on Home Video

Deadpool is the fastest-selling superhero title on Digital HD, selling 1 million units its first week, according to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. It also now holds the record as Fox’s best-performing Digital HD title ever, and the fastest to 1 million units.

Fox cited data from comScore’s Digital Downloads Essentials.

Based on Marvel Comics’ most unconventional antihero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), who is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, leading him to adopt the alter ego Deadpool.

“The consumer response to Deadpool has been unprecedented in theaters and now at home,” said Mary Daily, president and chief marketing officer of worldwide marketing for 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. “In just one week, Digital HD transactions are reaching superhero levels.”

Deadpool was released theatrically Feb. 12, and has grossed $761.7 million worldwide. The film was released on Digital HD April 29 and will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD May 10.
