‘Deadpool’, ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Jason Bourne’ & ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Among Recent FX Movie Buys

FX continues to stock up its movie library with top box office performers. Some of the recent buys include Deadpool, X-Men Apocalypse, Jason Bourne, the Ghostbusters remake, Neighbors 2, The Secret Life of Pets, Independence Day: Resurgence, Ice Age: Collision Course, Nerve, Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, The Purge: Election Year, Angry Birds and Now You See Me 2. For most of the franchises, FX also has the previous installments, allowing for movie marathons.

FX has been using acquired theatricals as an alternative to off-network TV series to help fill the schedule. The rationale is that they compliment FX’s originals, which are designed to have a similar theatrical feel. The movies provide circulation, and since they almost never are DVR-ed, viewers who catch theatrical movies on FX get to watch promos for the network’s original series.
