Darren Lynn Bousman Horror Pic ‘Abattoir’ Lands At Momentum Pictures

Momentum Pictures has acquired North American rights to Saw helmer Darren Lynn Bousman’s new horror pic Abattoir, which will now hit theaters on December 9 day-and-date with VOD and digital. Jessica Lowndes, Joe Anderson, Lin Shaye and Dayton Callie star in the movie based on Bousman’s six-issue comic book miniseries from Radical Publishing. The pic bowed this year at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

The plot centers on a real estate reporter (Lowndes) who unearths an urban legend about a house being built from rooms where horrific tragedies have occurred. The investigation ultimately leads her and ex-lover Detective Declan Grady (Anderson) to the enigmatic Jebediah Crone (Callie) and the answer to the question, “How do you build a haunted house?” Christopher Monfette penned the screenplay.

Jesse Berger and Brent C. Johnson produced via Radical Studios’ genre label Dark Web Productions. Lynwood Spinks, Kevin Niu, Robert Cain, Michael Yedwab, Steve Ponce and Trevor Allen executive produced the pic, which was financed by Lumenova Entertainment, Pacific Bridge Pictures and Ingenious Media. The deal was negotiated on behalf of eOne’s Momentum by Sejin Croninger and by Verve Ventures and Rosen Law Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
