Henry Golding, who recently nabbed the highly coveted lead role of Nick Young in Warner Bros. adaptation Crazy Rich Asians, has signed with Paradigm.
Director Jon M. Chu set out on a worldwide search to find the male lead for his film. Golding will star opposite Fresh Off the Boat's Constance Wu - the project is his feature film debut. He grew up in London and currently is based in Singapore, and he has experience hosting several TV travel shows.
In Crazy Rich Asians, the adaptation of Kevin Kwan's hit book, Golding will play the love interest of Rachel Chu (Wu), a U.S.-born Chinese economics professor. She and Nick travel to his hometown of Singapore for his best friend's wedding. Before long, she discovers that Nick is from a family that is impossibly wealthy, he's perhaps the most eligible bachelor in Asia and every single woman in his ultra-rarefied social class is incredibly jealous of Rachel and wants to bring her down.
Michelle Yeoh stars as Nick's mother, Eleanor Young, while Gemma Chan will play Astrid.
Golding continues to be represented by management company FLY Entertainment in Singapore.
