No one can say that guns and gun ownership are without controversy in the United States. Shootings and gun violence in recent decades have inspired a rise in gun control advocacy. At the same time, the power and support of the gun lobby has never been greater. Perhaps that’s what has inspired the National Rifle Association to hold events like its Concealed Carry Fashion Show this week.
The event took place in Milwaukee, Wis., on Friday and featured an arsenal of gun accessory products from around 30 different companies, the New York Post reports. Models strutted up and down the catwalk showing off a variety of concealed weapons accessories, including belts, bags, and no shortage of holsters.
The firearms industry is worth an estimated $51 billion in the United States. The Pew Research Center reports that around 4 in 10 households have a gun. All in all, with numbers like that it’s a little surprising that there aren’t more such gun accessory fashion shows in existence.
