Comedy Central is going back to the Motor City.
The Viacom-owned cable network has picked up a second season of scripted comedy Detroiters, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The series is currently in the midst of its first season, with season two set to launch in 2018.
Detroiters stars co-creators, exec producers and real-life best friends Sam Richardson (Veep) and Tim Robinson (SNL) as two small-time ad men in Detroit.
The duo exec produce the series with co-creators Joe Kelly and Zach Kanin, as well as Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer and Jason Sudeikis. Sudeikis also recurs on the comedy as a successful Chrysler brand executive whom Richardson and Robinson relentlessly pursue in hopes of landing their first major client.
"Sam and Tim's sweet, goofy friendship is so infectious, we've noticed people being nicer to each other," said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman. "Perhaps we'll set season two in D.C."
Detroiters received a warm reception from critics when it premiered in February. THR TV critic Daniel Fienberg called the comedy "savvy and funny."
Comedy Central's scripted series slate also includes Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer, Drunk History, Another Period, Idiotsitter and Review, which just kicked off its third and final season.
