‘Captain America: Civil War’ Super Bowl TV Spot: “You Chose The Wrong Side”

Disney has started its swarm over Super Bowl 50 a bit early it seems, releasing the new trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War well in advance of when it airs at some point during the game. The film hits theaters May 6. Watch the trailer here now.

Starring Chris Evans as Captain America and Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, the film sees the two Avengers on opposite sides of the law when world governments try to regulate superheroes. Cap leads those who resist the measures while Iron Man becomes their champion, and the world’s heroes must pick sides.

This means packing in nearly the entire lineup of heroes from previous Marvel films, including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd. Also appearing are Frank Grillo and Daniel Brühl as the film’s villains, and William Hurt reprising the role of General Ross from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. The film also introduces Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, and Tom Holland as Spider-Man, before either get their own movies. Notably absent of course are Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, who will next be seen in Thor: Ragnarok.

Captain America: Civil War is directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo with the screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
