BuzzFeed Motion Pictures has teamed with Keshet Studios, the Los Angeles-based arm of Keshet International, to develop a transmedia game show.
The show is based on Touch, a Keshet game show that airs in Israel that asks contestants to point out the incongruities in photos they see on a screen as a clock counts down. Now, BFMP and Keshet will look to create a game show that will air on linear television while simultaneously launching online and via mobile devices. BuzzFeed's brand, content and talent will play a role in the creation of the game show.
"Leveraging our audience-focused development process and our global promotional engine will make this a huge phenomenon," BFMP head of development Matthew Henick said Thursday in a statement, with Sebastian Burkhardt, senior vp digital and acquisitions at Keshet International, adding, "Working jointly with such a prolific and extraordinary partner, I believe we are well positioned to develop a next-generation game show. Together, we will create content that engages viewers of all ages and on all platforms as the speed of linear and digital convergence accelerates."
The show is being developed to air on television and to be syndicated digitally through BuzzFeed's distribution channels.
BFMP will work with Keshet's digital divisions and Keshet Studios' non-scripted TV division, run by Rob Lee, to develop and produce the show. Keshet International will handle global rollout of the format in other territories.
