Brie Larson Breaks Free From Woody Harrelson in ‘The Glass Castle’ Trailer (Video)
Lionsgate has released the first trailer for “The Glass Castle,” which sees Brie Larson take on her first dramatic role since winning an Oscar for “Room.”
Based on the memoir by Jeannette Walls, “The Glass Castle” tells the story of the author as she recounts her and her siblings’ upbringing with poverty-stricken parents due to her father never being able to find a stable job.
In the trailer, exclusive to People, we learn that Walls (Larson), is a successful New York-based journalist and has distanced herself from her parents (played by Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts) and her siblings.

“You were born to change the world, not just add to the noise,” Harrelson tells Larson.
Larson’s “Short Term 12” writer/director Destin Daniel Cretton wrote and directed “The Glass Castle,” with Andrew Lanham as co-writer. Gil Netter and Ken Kao produced via Netter Productions.

Jennifer Lawrence was originally attached to star in the film, as she and Lionsgate have enjoyed a very fruitful relationship with the “Hunger Games” franchise. However, the Oscar winner dropped out of the project and was replaced by Larson.
“The Glass Castle” will hit theaters on August 11.
