Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone Flirt in Hawaii in Cameron Crowe's 'Aloha' Trailer

It’s finally time to say “aloha” to Cameron Crowe’s next film.

Though the Almost Famous writer-director is looking to make a comeback following the relative failure of We Bought a Zoo and the absolute bomb that was Elizabethtown, the trailer from his new movie Aloha looks like he’s still sticking with the sentimental dramedies that at one point made him one of Hollywood’s biggest filmmakers.

After playing the hardened soldier who meets a tragic end in American Sniper, the surprise smash hit that earned him yet another Oscar nomination, Bradley Cooper is shifting gears to play Brian Gilcrest, a military man with a softer side. A defense contractor who screws up big-time, he gets sent back to Hawaii for a second shot — both at work, and in love.

Upon his return, he’s confronted by his ex, played by Rachel McAdams, but their potential reunion is complicated by another woman: Emma Stone, who plays an Air Force liaison with puppy dog enthusiasm (basically, the opposite of her Oscar-nominated Birdman performance) and also has eyes for Brian.

Cooper’s role was initially pegged for Ben Stiller, way back in 2008, when Crowe first planned on making the movie. Stone’s role was initially given to Reese Witherspoon. Cooper and Stone look like a good fit… even if ex-Sony chief Amy Pascal trashed the movie as “ridiculous” in leaked emails last year.

The movie, which also stars Bill Murray and Danny McBride, hits theaters on May 29.
