Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Will Spend Their Honeymoon Hard at Work

Congratulations, Brad and Angie. Now get to work!

The newly married couple will likely spend their honeymoon doing something they haven’t done in about a decade: Starring in a movie together.

The actors are set to spend the next two and a half months on the Maltese Island of Gozo, where they will costar in the appropriately titled By the Sea, a romance that will also be directed by Angelina Jolie from her own script. Shooting is expected to begin in September, with the movie set to be released next year.

Jolie has been tight-lipped about plot details, but did tell Extra, “It’s not a big movie, it’s not an action movie. It’s the kind of movie we love but aren’t often cast in. It’s a very experimental, independent-type film where we get to be actors together and be really raw, open, try things.”(The Hollywood Reporter also claims that the new film includes, fittingly enough, a wedding scene between their characters.)

Jolie and Pitt scout locations in Malta.

The production has already reportedly closed down Malta’s Mgarr ix-Xini beach for filming through Nov. 10, and the gorgeous Mediterranean island feels like the ideal honeymoon spot. However, the couple will hardly be relaxing, with Jolie dealing with the countless duties involved in helming a film. Still, just having the entire family together for a whole shoot is an anomaly for the clan, and a special occasion in itself:Pitt, 50, and Jolie, 39, have historically tried to take turns doing movies so one can always be with the kids, visiting the working parent or rendezvousing on weekends. This time, with both parents working together, the kids are reportedly staying in a home nearby.

The film will be their first on-screen pairing since 2005’s Mr. & Ms. Smith. A year later, shortly after his divorce from Jennifer Aniston was finalized and Pitt and Jolie went public with their new relationship, Pitt and Jolie worked together in India to make A Mighty Heart, a film she starred in and he produced.

There won’t be much of a break for the pair once By the Sea wraps: Jolie will be busy promoting Unbroken, the World War II POW drama she directed — and a strong Oscar contender (the film is set to be released at Christmas). Pitt, meanwhile, has Fury, another World War II film in which he stars as a tank commander, coming out Oct. 17.
