The old gang is back, perhaps headed to the cantina to swap some stories.
At a "Star Wars" fan convention in Germany, seven of the stars of "Return of the Jedi" were on hand to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the epic conclusion to the original "Star Wars" trilogy.
Greeting fans and sharing memories at Stars Wars Celebration Europe in Messe Essen, Germany were Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Jeremy Bullock (Boba Fett), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine), and Warwick Davis (who made his film debut as Wicket the Ewok before going on to the "Leprechaun" series and playing Professor Flitwick in the "Harry Potter" films).
Harrison Ford was conspicuous in his absence – though he was recently at Comic-Con talking up the upcoming "Ender's Game," so perhaps he had other commitments – but it was certainly enough of a "Jedi" reunion to bring a smile to any fan who longs to visit that galaxy far, far away.
While the actors were on hand to celebrate "Star Wars" history, some of them will also be part of the future of the franchise. Though we don't know if any of the other vets will return, George Lucas has already stated that Hamill, Fisher, and Ford will be involved in J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is scheduled to take over the world in 2015.
Along with Hamill, Fisher, and Ford, entertainment news site Latino Review reported on Wednesday that unnamed insiders (How come these insiders never have names? What were their parents thinking?) are saying Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron will be joining the series veterans in "Episode Seven." It didn't take long for Gosling's representatives to issue a firm denial, saying the report was false, but so far Efron hasn't offered a response. Interesting …
And while everyone was chatting about "Return Of The Jedi," did anyone mention the movie we almost got instead of "Revenge of the Jedi," where Han Solo dies, there's a planet of Wookies instead of Ewoks, and where David Lynch directed instead of Richard Marquand?
