People’s Choice Awards Snubs () and Surprises ()

Movie Talk
Sandra Bullock, Harrison Ford talk 2013 Hollywood Film Awards
The movie awards season has already arrived. Stars gathered in Beverly Hills, Calif., Monday night for the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards gala. KCBS' Suazanne Marques spoke to familiar faces like Harrison Ford and Sandra Bullock on the red carpet.

Sandra Bullock's big box office year continues to work in her favor as the 49-year-old actress leads the pack, along with musical TV show "Glee," in People's Choice Awards nominations.

Announced on Tuesday, Bullock received five nominations in categories including Favorite Comedic Movie Actress for her role in "The Heat," as well as a nom in the dramatic category for her turn as an astronaut lost in space in "Gravity." Bullock is even competing against herself in the Favorite Movie Duo category, nominated once with her "Gravity" co-star, George Clooney, and again with her "Heat" co-star, Melissa McCarthy. And those two films were also nominated in their respective movie categories.

"Glee" garnered eight nominations, the clear lead in the show's television categories.

Katy Perry is making a strong showing with five noms in music categories including Favorite Female Artist.

And get this — Oprah Winfrey was nominated for her role in "The Butler"! Robin Williams was also nominated for his work on the Lee Daniels film — he won his first People's Choice award in 1979 for his role in "Mork and Mindy."

But some performers got snubbed. Popular TV show "Breaking Bad," even for it's final season, wound up broke, with zero noms. Zack Snyder's global super-hit, superhero film "Man of Steel" was also nearly shut out, as Amy Adams got the film's only nod for Best Dramatic Actress. Taylor Swift didn't make it into the Favorite Female Artist category and Jon Stewart wasn't nominated for Favorite Late-Night Host.

The show's executive produceer Mark Burnett also announced Tuesday that the stars of CBS hit comedy “2 Broke Girls," Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, will host the show, airing Wednesday, Jan. 8, early next year. Presenters Rachel Bilson ("Heart of Dixie"), pop star Ciara, Darren Criss ("Glee"), and Allison Janney ("Mom") were also on hand for the announcement.
