Yes, she fell before she accepted her award. But no, Jennifer Lawrence said backstage at this year's Academy Awards, she did not do it on purpose.
"What do you mean what happened?," she said to an inquisitive reporter. "Look at my dress," Lawrence said of her voluminous Dior gown. "I tried to walk up stairs in this dress. That's what happened."
The 22-year-old Best Actress Oscar winner, who won for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook," rambled a bit during her time at the backstage mic, apologizing because "I did a shot before." The room roared with laughter.
Lawrence then admitted she could have used more food in her stomach on the eventful awards show day.
"I didn't eat today because I was so stressed and then I was starving in the car ride over, and that sucked," she said, qualifying the statement with the fact that she was actually less nervous than the last time she was a nominee (for "Winter's Bone" in 2011). "Last time, I was brand new to the industry, and… I didn't know anybody. So, I would always go to these things and I see all these people, like, hugging, and like, 'Oh, my God, John, how are you?' And I am just like 'er er er.' And so, I know more people, and that makes it a lot less awkward."
Then it came to further explaining the fall seen around the world: "I think I just stepped on the fabric and they waxed the stairs."
And when it happened, she had a certain expletive on the brain: "What went through my mind when I fell down? A bad word that I can't say that starts with F."
