But according to many reports, the star has had a change of heart, becoming engaged to the actor Olivier Martinez. The gossip magazine Us Weekly confirmed that the Frenchman proposed over the holidays with a "one-of-a-kind" emerald-and-diamond ring from Gurhan.
The two met on the set of "Dark Tide," and went public as a couple in the fall of 2010. Perhaps it's not surprising that Berry was gun-shy of tying the knot a third time. Her two previous marriages ended in divorce: with former baseball player David Justice and then with singer Eric Benet.
The man who caught Berry's eye was dubbed "the French Brad Pitt" and has caught notice for his acting abilities on both sides of the Atlantic. The Parisian received a César Award (the French Oscar) for "most promising actor" in 1994, and has starred in both French and American films, most notably "Unfaithful" and "S.W.A.T."
The former welterweight boxer who rides motorcycles -- and almost died on one some 10 years ago -- manged to avoid settling down, saying at one point, "I want just to be happy and peaceful. And that's not always the case when you're married."
Perhaps Berry would refer fans to her more recent declaration in Vogue in the September 2010 issue, when she admitted, "I'm not done with love, but I refuse to settle. I am a hopeless romantic."
That seems to make two of them.
