Former Bears returner Devin Hester signs with Atlanta Falcons

Devin Hester spent the past eight seasons creating highlights as a returner in Chicago.

He has been given three years to create the same magic in Atlanta.

Hester, arguably the NFL's most dynamic returner, agreed to a three-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

He should instantly improve a return unit which finished 10th in kickoff-return average (24.4) and 20th in punts (8.2) last season. Jacquizz Rodgers handled the kickoff return duties and Robert McClain was Atlanta’s main punt returner last season.

Prior to signing with Atlanta, Hester expressed interesting in playing for the Miami Dolphins. He played at the University of Miami.

Hester (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the second round (57th overall) of the 2006 NFL draft. He is a three-time Pro Bowler because of his dangerous return ability.

The veteran holds has returned 13 punts for touchdowns in his career and adds 18 combined career return touchdowns. In addition, Hester has compiled 3,241 yards on 264 punt returns and 5,504 yards and five touchdowns on 222 career kickoff returns.

Hester has also posted 217 receptions for 2,807 yards with 14 touchdowns as a receiver during his career.
