First look at ‘Anchorman: The Legend Continues’

As if news of a the new "Anchorman" wasn't enough to send you into fits of spontaneous guns flexing (or that other type of spontaneous response Ron Burgundy has been known to do in front of his estimable San Diegan colleagues), the first teaser has been released as visual and auditory proof that this thing is in fact happening.

Two words: Pleasure. Town.

This is the first trailer released for "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner. (Luke Wilson is rumored to be reprising his role as rival news man Frank Vitchard -- who will presumably be armless if it is a true continuation of the original 2004 film.) The film is due in theaters in 2013 -- so we're all just going to have to hold our bottles of Sex Panther cologne tight while we wait.

There are still a lot of unknowns with the film. The biggest one being whether Christina Applegate will reprise her role as "anchor lady" Veronica Corningstone. (In my humble opinion, it would be an absolute crime if she wasn't cast.)

The teaser reveals a seeming hint, said by Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy: "This time I'm on top." (Does that mean Applegate's presence will be dimmed in this version?)

Also, Champ Kind (Koechner) promises "boobies." Like the R-rated kind? The first "Anchorman" was rated PG-13, and methinks they will vie for that cleavage-only rating again this time around in order to appeal to a broader audience and bigger box office dollars.

The first "Anchorman" had a budget of $26 million and has grossed a total of $85 million. This time around the budget is bigger -- an estimated $50 million.

Brian Fantana (Rudd) offers a characteristically aromatic contribution to the trailer: "It's gonna get stinky."

Our Sex Panther chariot awaits!
