For the record, Jonathan Bennett, who played stud Aaron Samuels in the 2004 hit comedy "Mean Girls" opposite Lindsay Lohan's Cady Heron character, does not want his former co-star to go to jail.

However, the comedic actor tried on a T-shirt last Thursday with a message that reads the opposite.

Bennett, who's a huge jokester in real life, stopped by PAR-La by DiLascia store in West Hollywood on Thursday, where he saw the shirt in the window.

Store owner Patrick DiLascia snapped a photo of Bennett and posted it on his Facebook page with the caption, "Jonathan Bennett AKA AARON SAMUELS FROM MEAN GIRLS, rocking The go to Jail Lyndsey (sic) tee by DILASCIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exclusively sold at PAR-LA …."

But omg! spoke with Bennett, who says that his true thoughts about Lohan couldn't be further from the T-shirt's blunt slogan.

"I tried on the T-shirt ironically to point out the ridiculousness of the public and media obsession with her," he explains. "I actually am really happy she's in rehab and seems to be doing well. She was one of the most talented young actresses I have ever worked with."

And Bennett wishes Lohan nothing but the best going forward. "I just want her to get better. It makes me sad to think about that spark and that brightness that is inside her that's been covered by her addictions. I've had family members and friends go through rehab recently and because they stuck it out, it changed their life and was the best thing for them. I think and pray that this time will be the same for her."

Lastly, he thinks that Lohan is going to bounce back more successfully than ever before. "I'm here for her. She'll be back and she's gonna be big. Just you watch."

Bennett's own career has been heating up again recently. He recently starred opposite Jamie-Lynn Sigler in the indie film "Divorce Invitation," available now on iTunes and DVD. The film features a strong cast, which includes Elliott Gould, Richard Kind, Paul Sorvino, Lainie Kazan, and Andrea Bowen. He also appeared recently in "Pawn" opposite Ray Liotta, Forest Whitaker, Michael Chiklis, Nikki Reed, and Jessica Szhor, which also marked his first executive producer role.

A huge fitness enthusiast, Bennett recently became a certified Spinning instructor. And the actor is very involved with One Heartland, a charity for kids living with HIV/AIDS. Check out this pic he just posted from its "Camp Heartland" event.
