Although its 2014 release date is a long ways out, the excitement surrounding the big screen adaptation of dystopian bestseller "Divergent" continues to build, with each completed day of filming and other assorted bits of news that break about the project.
Today we have two assorted bits of "Divergent" news, the first being that author Veronica Roth stopped by the "Today Show" to reveal the cover of "Allegiant," her third and final book in the trilogy and the second, Yahoo! Movies was lucky enough to speak with Roth just ahead of the big reveal to get an update on how her novel is coming to life.
For those unfamiliar with the story and its key players, "Divergent" takes place in the not-too-distant future, in a society divided into factions based on human traits. The plot revolves around 16-year-old Tris (played by 2014 it girl Shailene Woodley), who leaves her own faction to join a rival one and falls in love with a young man (played by handsome up-and-comer Theo James).

Roth told us she has been happily involved in much of the book-to-screen process including a visit to set and meeting the cast.
"They’ve done a really amazing job," she said speaking to the film's progress on the while and its impressive cast, which also includes adult heavyweights Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd and "Scandal" prez Tony Goldwyn.
"I was on set a while ago and got to meet all the young Dauntless [members of Tris' chosen faction], she continued. "They’re just all really nice people. I was surprised. You don’t know how people are going to be but they’re all so welcoming and so kind to me, so it’s great."
We couldn't task Roth with choosing a favorite cast member so we instead asked her to name the most pleasant casting surprise.
"The most fun surprise was definitely Christian Madsen as Al, she said. "I didn’t know what to think, I’ve never seen him in anything and I just wasn’t sure what an actor would do with the character of Al [a sweet, sensitive but misguided young man] and the scene that that I saw, which was during the night rounds, it's a scene which kind of features Al in an interesting way and he was so perfect I was amazed."
Roth went on to say that she plans on going back to set but she's not sure when our for what scene.
"I think I want to be around for something involving the ferris wheel," she said hopefully of the fan favorite scene that features a key moment between two characters. "That will be really cool.
Until then however Roth is busy with putting the finishing touches on the final book in the trilogy "Allegiant," which hits shelves October 22.
"I’m on the precipice of doing copy edits, she said. "[Checking] periods, commas, so we’re at the end here. I’m so excited for everyone to read it because it’s been living in my brain for a long time. I’m just as eager for this release date as anyone else."
When not writing, Roth passes the time like any other normal 24-year-old immersed in pop culture. Jamming out to Macklemore and helping support the "Veronica Mars" kickstarter.
