Anne Hathaway, actress extraordinaire and flawlessly stylish, had a major -- and majorly rare for her -- red-carpet "oops" moment. Thursday's Golden Globes nomination for her "Les Misérables" role probably eased the sting significantly but the stunning star, who got rave reviews for her daring Tom Ford dress and custom bondage-style boots, also made news for what she wasn't wearing at the movie's premiere: underwear.

Unfortunately for the 30-year-old, her choice to both go commando and wear a gown with a thigh-high slit resulted in a wardrobe malfunction. The Britney Spears moment happened as she exited her town car. Her tight dress hiked up, and photographers -- who instantly got an eyeful -- began snapping away.

Cue Web pandemonium. The image of Anne's private parts went public. The day after the mishap, Hathaway was overheard telling a Vanity Fair writer, "It was devastating. They saw everything. I might as well have lifted up my skirt for them."

But, as Hathaway might tell herself, the show must go on. On the "Today" show, the "Dark Knight Rises" star could not escape a probing comment from Matt Lauer ("seen a lot of you lately") about the pantyless picture.

She offered a graceful response to her graceless slip-up, telling Lauer, "Well, it was obviously an unfortunate incident. It kind of made me sad on two accounts. One was that I was very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable moment, and -- rather than delete it, and do the decent thing -- sells it."

She added, "And I'm sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of unwilling participants, which takes us back to 'Les Mis,' because that's what my character is."

While the "Devil Wears Prada" actress might not be the only one to have such a fashion disaster, she may be one of the most respected actresses in some time to have such a foul-up. The A-list movie star hardly needs to play up her nether regions for attention. On the other hand, she's not alone.

Khloe Kardashian blamed a recent wardrobe malfunction on Hurricane Sandy. After wearing an overly-sheer shirt for the "X-Factor," she explained: "We moved the show up because of the hurricane, so my stuff that was being sent was stuck on the East Coast. That top [arrived from the East Coast] first thing."

Nicki Minaj, meanwhile, seemed to completely shrug it off after she accidentally flashed the crowd at a Manchester concert. "You won't tell anyone, will you?" she joked with the crowd.

However, Sofia Vergara stands alone as one of the few stars that actually turned the spotlight on her own dress disaster. When her dress split down the back during the 2012 Emmys, it was away from prying eyes. But she took to Twitter and shared the photo of her exposed backside. "Yes!!!! This happened 20 min before we won!!!! Jajajajja. I luv my life!!!!"

But even without her underthings, Hathaway may still have the last laugh: The movie "Les Misérables" and her performance are already earning awards-show buzz.
