One of next summer's most anticipated films won't feature a lot of car chases and explosions. But it does promise stage pyrotechnics in the extreme.
"Rock of Ages," the big budget rock musical starring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, and Julianne Hough, recently released its first trailer. The film, based on the hit Broadway musical, looks like a doozy. Searches on the trailer recently doubled in just one hour.
Using classic '80s tunes from Def Leppard, Poison, Journey, and Foreigner, "Rock of Ages" is all about a concert venue that may be shut down due to rock-hating protestors led by chief villain Catherine Zeta-Jones. Tom Cruise stars as the iconic rocker Stacee Jaxx. Cruise sports long hair and tight pants, and clearly had a great time while filming.
The trailer features a strong dose of the Twisted Sister classic "We're Not Gonna Take It." Web lookups for the trailer are loud and getting louder. You can check out the preview for yourself below. Rock on.
