The Women’s Guild Cedar-Sinai held it’s Annual Gala on Wednesday evening at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. The star-studded evening featured red-carpet appearance by Jay Leno, Rita Wilson and Billy Crystal.
The Women’s Guild has been “inspiring innovation” at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for more than a fifty years, according to its website. Its core efforts focus on supporting healthcare, research and innovation. Women’s Guild members listen and learn, roll up their sleeves and get to work.
The Women’s Guild honored Crystal with the Hollywood Icon Award at Wednesday’s gala. Crystal, who is new to the foundation, jumped at the opportunity to become involved.
“I’m always so aware of what they do,” said Crystal of the Women’s Guild. “I don’t usually like to accept [awards] because they’re always such a big responsibility, but this is important to me because everything that the [Women’s Guild] does for doctors, nurses and patients is so heartfelt, so I decided to help.”
The evening began with a cocktail reception, followed by an elegant three-course dinner in the hotel’s International Ballroom. Guests enjoyed their heirloom tomatoes with burrata cheese as the program commenced with select musical performances, including the musical stylings of Rita Wilson, who performed selections from her new self-titled album.
Wilson, a survivor of breast cancer, has spent much of her time raising money for cancer research. She also applauded the work and effort the Women’s Guild has accomplished in assisting those in need of treatment.
“In something like the Women’s Guild, you’re really raising money for research and for a cure, which required equipment,” said the Los Angeles-born actress/singer. “We’re always looking to find that cure, and my hope is that the Women’s Guild uses tonight’s proceeds to do just that.”
