‘Being Mary Jane’ Adds Valarie Pettiford, Ashton Holmes & Chiké Okonkwo

Valarie Pettiford (The Blacklist), Ashton Holmes (Revenge) and Chiké Okonkwo (The Birth of a Nation) are set for recurring roles opposite Gabrielle Union on the upcoming fourth season of BET’s popular drama series Being Mary Jane.

Created by The Game‘s Mara Brock Akil, Being Mary Jane follows the sometimes disastrous personal and professional life of news anchor Mary Jane Paul (Union).

Pettiform will play Ronda Sales, a veteran anchor at Great Day, USA and Mary Jane’s idol. Holmes will portray Garrett Keswick, Great Day’s producer and showrunner. Okonkwo plays Lee Truitt, a successful stand-up comedian from the UK who tests Mary Jane’s preconceived notions about what (or who) she needs in her life.

They join recently announced Michael Ealy, along with returning cast Union, Lisa Vidal, Richard Roundtree, Margaret Avery, Richard Brooks, BJ Britt Jr. and Raven Goodwin.

Union, Jeff Morrone, Will Packer and Erica Shelton-Kodish executive produce, and Shelton-Kodish also serves as showrunner.

Pettiford’s recent TV credits include recurring roles on The Blacklist, True Blood, and Black-ish, She’s repped by Primary Wave Entertainment and TalentWorks. Holmes is known for his roles as Tyler Barrol on Revenge and Thom on Nikita. He most recently guested on Stitchers and Motive. Holmes is repped by APA, Primary Wave, and Bloom Hergott. Okonkwo appears in Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation and recently recurred on Banshee. He is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Morris Yorn.
