Before 'Birdman': Here's Michael Keaton Voicing Miyazaki Anime in 'Porco Rosso' Clip

After watching this clip from Porco Rosso (1992), it’s easy to see why Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki is hailed around the globe as a masterful storyteller and animator, winning an Honorary Academy Award last November for a career that has spanned five decades.

Miyazaki is celebrated for such works as his Oscar-winning Spirited Away (2003), Princess Monoke (1997), Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), and My Neighbor Totoro (1988).

This action-packed clip comes from Porco Rosso and is dubbed by the Oscar-nominated Michael Keaton. The adventure, about a porcine WWI flying ace, is one of three new Disney Blu-ray reissues of classic works from Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli arriving next Tuesday. The other two are Pom Poko and Tales From Earthsea.
