Here's the Trailer for the Heartwarming Batkid Documentary

Two years ago, the Make-a-Wish Foundation turned San Francisco into a playground for the most elaborate and heartwarming cosplay adventure of all-time. With the whole world watching online, a 5-year-old pediatric cancer survivor named Miles Scott ran around the city in a Batman costume — and now, the full story of his special day is heading to the big screen.

The first trailer for Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World, which you can see above, re-introduces Scott and the roller coaster ride that led to his big day. The film, directed by Dana Nachman, premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in January, and traces the story’s sad beginning to its uplifting conclusion, from when Miles was diagnosed with leukemia at 18-months to the day San Fran just about shut down to make his dream a reality.

As you can see in the trailer, the city became enamored with little Miles, with thousands of people lining the streets (some having flown in from distant points around the world) to cheer him on during his all-day adventure. Actors volunteered to play such villains as the RIddler, and Batkid fans sent in video messages via social media. Even Hollywood stars that played Batman on-screen called and tweeted him (It’s unclear if a 5-year-old could totally appreciate a phone call from Adam West, but the Ben Affleck tweet must have been cool).

The event became bigger than anyone could have imagined, and following the premiere of the documentary, Julia Roberts optioned the story for a full-length feature film. The Hollywood ending is guaranteed.
