Andrew Cripps Joins Fox as President of International Distribution

Veteran distribution executive Andrew Cripps is joining Twentieth Century Fox Film as president of international theatrical distribution.

Cripps has been president of Imax International and will assume his new post in January. He will report to Fox Film Chairman and CEO Stacey Snider, who announced the hiring Wednesday.

Cripps will oversee all strategic and managerial international theatrical distribution activities for the studio. He also will be involved with developing business opportunities in the foreign marketplace.

He will also work closely with Chris Aronson, president of domestic theatrical distribution, and with Tomas Jegeus, Fox International Productions president, Cripps will relocate with his family from London to Los Angeles.

“I have known Andrew since we worked together when I was at Universal Pictures and he ran United International Pictures, which distributed all of our pictures internationally,” Snider said. “He is not only an expert on the global distribution marketplace, but he is the consummate professional and an all around great person. I can think of no one better to lead our world class Fox international team.”

Cripps joined Imax in 2012 as President for Europe, Middle East and Africa, overseeing the company’s expansion of its theater network in those regions. He also worked closely with the company’s filmed entertainment division to identify international local language distribution opportunities and served as executive VP of Imax Corp.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time at Imax, but now I am really looking forward to this incredible opportunity with Fox and to be working with Stacey Snider again,” said Cripps. “As the international marketplace continues to grow, this is an auspicious time to be joining the studio. I am very excited to get started.”

Cripps served as president of Paramount Pictures International from 2007 until 2011. He was president and chief operating officer at UIP — a joint venture distribution company between Paramount and Universal — from 1999 to 2006. He joined UIP in 1986.

The studio announced in August that Paul Hanneman was leaving his slot as 20th Century Fox Film’s worldwide president of marketing and distribution.
