'Anchorman 2' Trailer: Brick Turns on His Love Lamp for Kristen Wiig

"…Brick, Champ, Brian, and Ron. They rose like the Phoenix, and then they were gone."

But now they’re back! With better (and at times curlier) hair than ever. “Welcome to the '80s, baby!”

Yes, the new “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” trailer dropped last night, and for high-brow fans of “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" (2004), this may just be the best minute and 43 seconds you’ve had in nine years.

Will Ferrell returns as the titular newscaster, though according to the trailer’s first lines, he’s apparently had some sort of fall from grace since the end of the first film, when he took on network hosting duties alongside “lady friend” Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate).

What that fall is, we can only guess, but apparently with the 24-hour news cycle taking root in the early '80s, Ron will get a chance to yet again do what Ron does best, “have salon-quality hair and read the news.”

Good times quickly follow, with the whole team getting back together again, though it’s hard to tell in what capacity Corningstone will be involved. Veronica’s seen in only two brief shots – walking arm in arm with Ron (sporting feathered Heather Thomas hair) and relaxing on the beach with Ron, his faithful pooch Baxter, and a young boy. Though we don’t have confirmation, we assume this is Burgundy’s son, as the film’s IMDb page has a photo of a similar looking young boy, Judah Nelson, playing the part of Walter Burgundy (named after Cronkite, perhaps?).

Though we don’t see much of Corningstone, the rest of Burgundy’s crack news team is well represented, including sexy-as-ever man-on-the-street reporter Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), everyone’s favorite chauvinistic sportscaster, Champ Kind (David Koechner), and, of course, the ever out-there weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carell).

Perhaps the most exciting revelation from the new trailer is Brick’s beefier role, and the addition of a perfectly matched love interest for the quirky weatherman: Kristen Wiig.

With stars in his eyes, Brick tells Wiig (her character name hasn’t been released yet), “Your hair looks like wet popcorn.”

An equally love-struck Kristen (in a wig) answers, “I like the parts of your face that are covered with skin.”

Perhaps there’s a reason love is in the air for Brick, as Yahoo! Movies recently got some exclusive insight into his character while sitting down with Carell during last week’s “Despicable Me 2" junket.

"Brick tends to like things he sees. There’s no filter for Brick," said Carell. "He’s a very visual person. He loves everything. Brick just is a lover."

That bodes well for Wiig. And for the rest of us as well.

Like Great Odin’s raven, “Anchorman: The Legend Continues" flies into theaters December 20, 2013.
