Amber Heard Confirms She’s in Ever-Growing Cast of ‘Justice League’ Movie

At the beginning of 2016, news came out that Amber Heard was joining the cast of the upcoming Justice League Part One in an unconfirmed role. Now that unconfirmed role has become un-unconfirmed — or in layman’s terms, confirmed. She will be playing Mera, queen of Atlantis and love of Aquaman. She un-unconfirmed, or confirmed, it to Entertainment Tonight and even talked about her costume. “It’s interesting. I’m wearing a half suit of armor, half scales, I dunno — it’s strange, it’s strange,” she told Entertainment Tonight’s Katie Krause.

So, what’s Mera’s deal? She initially was Aquaman’s intended assassin from another underwater kingdom. But when her plans to woo and then destroy him turned to genuine love, she switched sides and married him. She has superstrength, durability, and, as DC puts it, can “bend water to her will.”

Heard helps ensure there will be no shortage of famous people in the movies. As we know, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman are on board. Joining them and Heard as superpowered types, we’ve got Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as the Flash, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Then there are the normals — Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Ma Kent, and JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

If you can believe it, there are still more shoes to fill. We’re still owed news for who will be cast as the villain, likely Darkseid or Brainiac. There also might be heroes to come, Green Lantern and Shazam are still possibilities, and nobody really knows what’s going on with Jena Malone and if she’s supposed to be Batgirl or not.
