Amanda Knox Case Gets Movie Treatment in 'Face of an Angel' Trailer

As seen in this exclusive first-look trailer, Face of an Angel promises to be a haunting retelling of the Amanda Knox murder case and the verdicts, which were overturned late last month.

The film, starring Daniel Brühl, supermodel-actress Cara Delevingne, and Kate Beckinsale, is a loose adaptation of real events and draws heavily from the reports of Newsweek and Daily Beast writer Barbie Latza Nadeau. The journalist extensively covered the polarizing and vexing circumstances surrounding the 2007 slaying of British student Meredith Kercher in Italy and subsequent trial of her roommate, Knox, and Knox’s then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito. Despite questionable evidence and a troubled investigation, Italian courts initially found the pair guilty before the conviction was eventually overturned on March 27.

Directed by Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People, A Mighty Heart), Face of an Angel enters theaters June 19.
