'Independence Day: Resurgence': Dr. Brakish Okun Is Alive and Well in New TV Spot
Remember Dr. Brakish Okun, the Area 51 scientist from Independence Day who was played by Brent Spiner, resembled a less scary version of Bob from Twin Peaks, and seemingly died in the 1996 sci-fi thriller after being put in an alien tentacle chokehold? Well, we now have visual confirmation that he’s alive and will appear in Independence Day: Resurgence.
A new TV spot for the summer sequel provides the first glimpse of Okun, who still looks like a less scary Bob from Twin Peaks and utters one key line in the commercial: “They’re not screaming. They’re celebrating.”

Spiner’s participation in the project had previously been confirmed, but seeing it makes it more official, as does Spiner’s tweet about his mad science guy alter ego.
