Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill Take Their Brother Act to College in '22 Jump Street'

If Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s undercover cops were unconvincing as high school students and siblings in 21 Jump Street, graduation hasn’t done them any favors as they take the act to college for the next installment, aptly named 22 Jump Street.

On campus, the absurdity of their act meets its match in the twin shape of Keith and Kenny Lucas, usually credited as the Lucas Brothers, playing the partners’ dormmates.

The brothers, who have been performing as a stand up comedy team since dropping out of law school four year ago, first received national attention on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, which lead to their animated series Lucas Bros. Moving Company on Fox. The pair told Splitsider that the Jump Street production spent four months looking for “brothers or sisters or just a team that could bounce off of Channing and Jonah.”

The Lucases do a fair amount of improvising in their stage act, which must have been handy on the Jump Street set. Co-director Chris Miller (The Lego Movie) said in an interview with Yahoo Movies that Hill and Tatum are free to riff off each other while cameras are rolling. Miller said, “Sometimes we just sort of set up the idea of the scene and get out of the way and let them do what they do, and they’re really great together.”

22 Jump Street opens nationwide on June 13.
