20 Marvel movie secrets that you didn’t know about until right now

With the release of Captain America: Civil War just days away, Marvel fans are champing at the bit for any morsel they can find about the Marvel Cinematic Universe that they haven't already discovered.

Of course, if you've watched all of the movies enough times, you probably know nearly all there is to know about the MCU, but you what you might not know about are some of the behind-the-scenes secrets that could have fundamentally changed the entire franchise if things hadn't (or had) gone exactly as planned.

In Screen Rant's latest video, we get to explore the makings of Marvel's movie universe, from casting decisions to budgetary constraints. For example, did you know that Tom Cruise was once in the running for the role of Iron Man? Or that Joss Whedon told Chris Hemsworth that he'd be perfect for the role of Captain America?

It's impossible to imagine a better group of Avengers, especially a dozen films into the series, but a few open schedules or fickle executives could have changed the makeup of the cast entirely to something virtually unrecognizable.
