Start your engines: Legendary slugger driving pace car for Indy 500

Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. was named the honorary pace car driver for the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. “The Kid,” who spent the majority of his 22-year MLB career with the Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds, will lead the field of 33 drivers in a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray to the start of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” “Driving the Pace Car and leading the field to start the Indy 500 is one of the coolest experiences,” Griffey said in an Indianapolis Motor Speedway release.
