Whiskey on the Rocks Like You've Never Seen it Before
One Japanese whiskey company is taking the ‘on the rocks’ part of a drink to an epic new level. Suntory Whiskey, which movie buffs may recognize from Sophia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, used a form of inverse 3D printing to carve extremely intricate ice cubes as a part of an advertising campaign.
A CNC router carved the designs into ice blocks. Check out this video, showing the sculpting in action. The worlds of tech, design, and distillery collide in one mind-bending project.
Called ‘3D on the Rocks,’ the campaign recently, and rightfully, won the Branded Content & Entertainment Lotus trophy as a part of the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival. The expertly executed advertising campaign came from the Tokyo-based agency TBWA Hakuhodo+Hakuhodo.
