Why it's Time to Skip NYC Galleries for the Street Art in Queens

New York is known for its amazing culture and is the host to a great many prestigious art museums such as the Guggenheim and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. But it’s not just paintings on walls that make up the dynamic art scene in the Big Apple. New York is a hotspot for talented street artists to display their work among the city’s urban landscape.

The 6th Annual Welling Court Mural Project took place earlier this month in Queens, New York. The event brings together local artists from the community and over a hundred artists participated in this year’s mural project. The unassuming environment is a chance for people to express creativity in its most organic form, away from the pretension that can sometimes appear in the art world.

Here are some of the incredible works from the Welling Court Project shot by photographer Jaime Rojo for BrooklynStreetArt.com.
